It’s Complicated allows you to create a secondary version of your profile in a different language. This is especially useful if you offer sessions in both English and German, as it gives you two SEO-optimised profiles — one on the English version of our website and one on the German version — increasing your chances of being found by clients through search engines.
Why create a localised profile?
- Reach more clients — when potential clients search for a therapist on search engines like Google, they typically search in their own language. A localised profile means your German profile can appear in German search results and your English profile in English search results, effectively doubling your visibility.
- Speak your client’s language — a profile written in a client’s native language feels more personal and approachable, which can increase the likelihood that they reach out.
- Automatic language routing — we automatically show the German version of our website to visitors whose device language is set to German. All other visitors see the English version by default.
How to set up your localised profile
Step 1: Go to Directory → Profile → Edit → Localised Profile in your dashboard.
Step 2: Select the language you’d like to create your secondary profile in. If your primary profile is in English, choose German as your secondary language (or vice versa).
Step 3: Fill out the sections that appear. You’ll need to provide translated versions of:
- Professional statement — a brief summary of who you are and what you offer.
- About you — your background, experience, and what clients can expect when working with you.
- My approach — your therapeutic methodology and how you work with clients.
- Education — your training and qualifications.
- Experience — your professional experience and career history.
Step 4: Click Save. Your secondary profile will now be live on the corresponding version of the website.
Where your localised profile appears
- If your secondary profile is in German, it will appear on complicated.life/de.
- If your secondary profile is in English, it will appear on complicated.life.
If you choose not to create a localised profile, the content from your primary profile will appear on both language versions of the website.
Tips for a strong localised profile
- Don’t just translate — localise — adapt your tone and phrasing to feel natural in the target language, rather than producing a word-for-word translation.
- Keep the same warmth and personality — your localised profile should feel like you, just in a different language.
- Keep both profiles up to date — if you update your primary profile, remember to update your secondary one too.
