It’s Complicated provides an invoicing feature for you to bill both clients on the platform as well as external clients off the platform. With It’s Complicated invoicing, you can easily customise and send invoices to your clients, see which invoices have been paid vs. are still pending, track your income, and have a centralised space where you can view and download your historical invoices to help support you with your accounting and tax returns.
Whenever you send out an invoice it is done in your name or your registered company. It's Complicated and our payment provider Stripe only provide tools to manage the payment of invoices. As a practitioner you are not in a contractual relationship for your services with either It's Complicated or Stripe, nor do you get paid by us for your services. You get paid directly by clients.
Setting up your invoicing account
To activate invoicing, go to the Invoicing section of your dashboard where you will need to agree to the Stripe Connect Account Agreement before enabling the invoicing feature. Once you’ve enabled invoicing, you must finish setting up your account by providing Stripe additional info about yourself, such as your address and bank account info for your Stripe payouts. Once you’ve finished onboarding you will be able to start sending invoices to your clients.
Please note that Stripe may ask for additional information to verify your account, please make sure to monitor the status of your Stripe account and any additional information you need to provide so that your account stays verified.
Invoices sent through It’s Complicated can be used for accounting and tax return purposes. You can download your invoices in PDF format by going to the invoices overview table in the invoices section of your dashboard. Select the individual invoices you would like to download and afterwards you can download them one-by-one or in bulk. If you would like an easy way to calculate gross amounts invoiced as well as the It’s Complicated platform fees associated with invoicing, we suggest downloading a CSV file which will give you line item information for each invoice sent through It’s Complicated, such as client, invoice number, gross amount invoiced, and It’s Complicated fees.
Customising your invoice documents
To customise your invoices, go to your invoice settings area on your dashboard, where you can edit information such as your company name and address, the VAT rates on your invoices, and the invoice footer where you can add personal notes or any legally required text.
